The search is on to find new charity partners as the airline reopens its community and conversation bursary scheme for next year. The bursary, one of the four pillars of the airline’s community investment programme, supports 30 community and conservation charities both in the UK and in the countries we fly to. Charities who are successful, partner with the airline for up to 12 months years and benefit from free flights, cargo and excess baggage.

Mary Barry, manager, community investment said, ”We have four priorities within the community investment department – Flying Start, our charity partnership with Comic Relief, UK Volunteering, which looks to provide development opportunities for colleagues, the Community Learning Centre, which delivers an extensive range of educational activities to school children and the Community and Conversation programme. This year, we’re looking to partner with new charities who share the same values as us – respect for others, a passion to help develop livelihoods, a commitment to serve their communities. It’s open to all UK registered charities and we’ve already received some applications from some really exciting charities.”

Interested charities should fill out and return the application form available on the following link: BACC Partners Application Form

Charities who already benefit from the bursary include Dreamflight, the Railway Children in India and Surfers Not Street Children, who are based in South Africa.

photoTom Hewitt, founder of Surfers Not Street Children said, “We use surfing to help get kids off the street. We help them get off drugs and work with them to teach them valuable life skills, which help give them a chance in life. Thanks to the BA bursary programme, we’ve been able to make this a sustainable programme.”
